  1. UAKN Atlantic GENERAL CFP 2017
    The UAKN Atlantic is launching its final call for proposals. The purpose of this research is to deepen our understanding of the needs and aspirations of urban Aboriginal populations living in Atlantic Canada. Findings from this research will be used to inform protocols, policy and legislation. The UAKN has four research themes:
  • Human development: needs and outcomes of individuals and families;
  • Social cohesion: community well-being, education, justice;
  • Economic development: economic participation, employment, entrepreneurship, income;
  • Civic engagement: urban Aboriginal councils and/or urban Aboriginal community organizations role in the city and with other local organizations.

Please note the UAKN Atlantic’s urban Aboriginal focus, community-driven approach and research team requirements.

  1. UAKN Atlantic LEGACY CFP 2017
    The UAKN Atlantic Executive Committee (EC) has identified the need for alternative end products to the traditional report – “destined to gather dust on a shelf and be quickly forgotten”. By way of contrast, the EC wants “living end products” that engage urban Aboriginal communities around the questions: “Who are we?, Where are we?, What got us here?, Where are we going?, and How are we getting there?”. Research Teams are encouraged to use new media such as film, video, graphic novels, poetry, augmented writings, art objects, art installations and so on, to answer these questions. The products resulting from this community-driven research will be used to engage and educate the general public.

Please note the UAKN Atlantic’s urban Aboriginal focus, community-driven approach and research team requirements.
